Sri Tirumala Nambi 1049th Avatrara Mahotsavam Held

TTD has observed the 1049th Avatara Mahotsavam of prominent Sri Vaishnava Acharya Sri Tirumala Nambi at his temple located in the South Mada street at Tirumala on Saturday.

 

As part of festivities, a discourse by 16 eminent Vedic Pundits was held in the morning on the life and achievements of Sri Tirumala Nambi. 

 

Legends says that he was the maternal uncle of Sri Ramanujacharya and pioneered Thirtha Kainkaryams at Sri Venkateswara temple. Tirumala Nambi used to bring holy waters from Papavinasam steam, which is located 8kms away, for Srivari abhisekam every day. To lessen the burden of His ardent devotee in his riped age, the Lord Himself in the guise of a boy created Akasa Ganga stream and blessed Tirumala Nambi.

 

HH Sri Srirangam Srimadandavan Varaha Mahadesikan Swamy of Andavan Ashramam rendered Anugraha Bhashanam on the occasion.

 

The successors of Tirumala Nambi including Sri TK Krishnaswamy Tatacharya, Sri Chakravarthi Ranganathan, Alwar Divya Prabandha Project Officer Sri Purushottam have also participated in this fete.
