TTD Crusade to Popularise Sculpture Art

 With an aim to popularise Indian culture and traditions TTD commenced the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Traditional Sculpture and Architecture(SVITSA) which has completed sixty successful years and marching ahead to spread sculpture arts across the world said TTD JEO for Health and Education, Smt Sada Bhargavi.

 

Inaugurating a three-day workshop on Conventional Sculpture-allied issues at the sculpture institute in Tirupati on Wednesday the TTD JEO in her inaugural address said it is the responsibility of every Indian to protect Indian traditional art and architecture which depicts our ancient glory and culture. TTD would promote more programs like workshops, exhibitions etc. in a big way to nurture its students in the traditional temple sculpting art formats to make them best Sthapathis for future.

 

She said the TTD sculpture school in its six glorious decades of journey had produced several talented Sthapathis who are now occupying higher positions across the world and called upon the students to learns the skills from the masters and become like them.

 

The JEO also said TTD is the only institution which deposits ₹1 lakh in name students to provide them financial stability and present it to the students with interest after completing their course.

 

She said TTD has invited prominent sthapathis from AP, Telangana,Tamilnadu and Karnataka for the workshop for exchange of knowledge and skills. The sculpture exhibition held earlier this year between February 26-March 3 had earned popular response from public.

 

TTD JEO said the sculpture students are also being taught English and computer education to help them in getting jobs. Similarly Kalamkari,Varli arts and Saurashtra painting are also taught as evening courses. The TTD board was also contemplating to elevate the sculpture school into a university, she maintained.

 

Among others Eminent sthapathis Sri Radhakrishna, Dr Dakshinamurthy,Pleach India foundation CEO Dr Shivanagi Reddy delivered lectures to the students useful for their career.

 

TTD DEO Sri Govindarajan, Principal Sri Venkat Reddy also were present.

 

ATTRACTIVE EXHIBITION

 

An exhibition cum sales counters has been organised as part of the ongoing sculpture workshop which was also inaugurated by TTD JEO Smt Sada Bhargavi. Visitors viewed the special stall of Kumari P Sai Devika where different house hold decorative  artefacts made from waste materials were displayed. The exhibition also comprised stalls of statues, kalamkari paintings, handloom sarees, Panchagavya products etc.
