TTD is organising the 131st Jayanti of Sri Rallapalli Anantakrishna Sharma on January 23, the sangeet and Sahitya pundit who brought to light hundreds of Annamacharya sankeertans etched on copper plates.
The prestigious programme will be jointly held at Annamacharya Kala Mandiram on Tuesday evening under the auspices of the Annamacharya project and HDPP.
Sri Anatakrishna Sharma, a native of Anantapur district worked as a Telugu teacher at Maharaja College of Mysore for 38 years and was credited for naming public sector All India Radio as Akashvani.
He was appointed as head of Sri Venkateswara Oriental Research Institute by then EO of TTD Sri C Anna Rao and given the responsibility of reviving the Annamacharya sankeertans.
Sri Rallapalli had not only published the sankeertans from the copper plates format and also choreographed hundreds of them.
In 1979 he was appointed Asthana Vidhwan of TTD.
