Sita Rama Kalyanam Observed in Grandeur





















All roads led to the temple centre of Vontimitta on Monday evening with scores of devotees making a beeline to Kalyana Vedika where the celestial wedding of Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam took place with utmost celestial grandeur.


The tens of thousands of devotees were spell bound with the divine charm of the celestial wedding ceremony. 


The venue appeared as sea of humanity with the devotees occupying every inch of the galleries.


The entire temple centre echoed to the divine chants of Jai Sri Ram with devotion touching the peaks.


Kalyanam Kamaneeyam


The celestial marriage commenced at 6:30pm in the temple with Bhagavat Vignapanam and lasted up to 8:30pm, followed by a series of ritual procedures including Anugna, Sankalpam, Punyahavachanam as per the tenets of Pancharatra Agama in the auspicious Lagnam.


Kalyanam Rituals


After this, Raksha Bandhanam was performed by the Archakas under the directions of Archaka Chief Sri Rajesh Bhattar followed by Yagnopaveeta Dharana, Kanyavaranam, Madhuparkarchanam.


The priests later performed Kanyadanam and read out the ancestral tree of both the Bride and the Bridegroom. 


This is followed by the priests reciting Mangalastakam, Choornika.


After all the series of rituals, the much awaited episode, Mangalyasutra Pooja, Mangalyasutra Dharana, Akshataropanam were performed with utmost religious fervour amidst chanting of Vedic hymns by the priests. The celestial fete completed after Nivedana, Veda Swasti, Mahada Aseervachanam.


Jewels Displayed


The 13 jewels presented to Vontimitta Kodanda Rama have been displayed and read out by the priests on the occasion.


Edurkolu held


The traditional Edurkolu ritual with both the Bride and Bridegroom facing one another on separate Tiruchis was performed.


Talambralu and Laddus distributed 


Each devotee is given the Talambralu, Laddus, Kankanams, Akshatalu kits and after Kalyanam distributed Pulihora and Sweet Pongali prasadams in food counters.


Under the supervision of sectoral officers and gallery staff and with the support of Srivari Sevaks and Scouts the entire distribution activity has been carried out in a hassle free manner.


Special CS Sri Karikalavalavan, Special CS Sri SS Ravat, and other dignitaries including Sri Girija Shankar, Collector Sri Vijayaramaraju,  Upalokayukta Judge Justice Rajani, District Judge Justice Sridevi, Joint Collector Sri Ganesh Kumar, SP Sri Siddharth Kaushal and others were present.


TTD EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy, JEOs Smt Goutami, Sri Veerabrahmam and other senior officers of TTD, devotees were also present.
