The annual brahmotsavams off to a religious and colourful start in the most famous and ancient temple of Sri Govindaraja Swamy in Tirupati on Monday with the ceremonious Dhwajarohanam.
The celestial flag bearing the image of Garudalwar was hoisted on the top the temple mast in the auspicious Mithuna lagnam between 7.02am and 7.20am amidst chanting of Vedic mantras as per the tenets of Vaikhanasa Agama.
Later in the morning between 10am and 11am the Snapana Tirumanjanam has been carried out to the Utsava deities.
Both the seers of Tirumala, DyEO Smt VR Shanti, AEO Sri Munikrishna Reddy and other temple staff, devotees were present.
