Temple Significance:

According to the temple legends, this shrine was built by the forefathers of Sri Akasha Maharaja, the father of Sri Padmavathi Devi, who once ruled Narayanavanam.

The presiding deity, Sri Agastheeswara Swamy, is said to be Swayambhu (self-manifested).

It is believed that Sage Agastya consecrated and worshipped the Siva Lingam here by installing the base (Peetham) as per Vedic and Agamic principles. Hence, the deity here is called Sri Agastheeswara Swamy.
