Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam will be performed at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Ontimitta on March 24. As the annual Brahmotsavams of the temple are scheduled to be held from March 26 to April 5, it is customary to conduct Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam prior to the festivities.
On this occasion, the Lord will be awakened with Suprabhatam in the early hours of March 24. Later, Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam will be performed in the temple from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
During this ritual, the temple premises, walls, ceilings, puja materials and other sacred objects will be thoroughly cleansed with water. Later, a sacred mixture prepared with Namakoppu, Srichurnam, Kasturi turmeric, green camphor leaves, edible camphor, sandalwood powder, kumkum and aromatic herbal ingredients will be sprinkled throughout the temple. Devotees will be allowed for darshan after the completion of the ritual.
Pasupu Danche Ritual on March 25
The traditional Pasupu Danche (turmeric grinding) ritual will be performed at the Ontimitta Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple on the morning of March 25.
The turmeric prepared during this ritual will be used for the celestial wedding ceremony of Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam, which will be held in a grand manner on April 1 as part of the Sri Ramanavami festivities commencing from March 27.
