Hyderabad, 12th April, 2016: The day two of the newly elected TRS corporators orientation workshop at Pragati Resorts on Tuesday deliberated on a wide range of aspects for better civic governance. The day began with a nature tour of Pragati Resorts conducted in the early hours for the corporators. Dr.GBK Rao CMD Pragati group sensitised the Corporators on the urgent need for developing plantation to overcome the threats posed by rapid urbanisation. Dr. Rao explained them about the significance of native sacred herbal heritage medicinal plants as per our Indian Vedic Culture .
The Corporators headed by the GHMC Mayor B.Rammohan took deep interest in knowing about aromatic and mosquito repellent plants, the sacred vanams, herbal medicinal plants and to understand the concept of how the intake of plants and their by-products can act as food as medicine. The nature tour underlined the need and importance of plantation to overcome the problem of hunger and pollution and lead the healthy life in urban areas
The various aspects related to better urban civic governance covered included GHMC Budget – revenue and expenditure, Participatory Governance, City planning and development contol, Hyderabad metro water supply and sewerage board . The highlight of the day was the interesting case study on 'Slum free city planning – Lesson from Ahmedabad 'presented by Anand Patel from Ahmedabad.
The post lunch session delved on 'Citizen connect through social media 'and 'Strom water Drainage Management'. Two enriching case studies were presented on 'Constructions and demolition waste' removal and on Multi-level parking – Delhi Experience. A Special Address for Model ward development plan by Dr. B. Janardan Reddy and Commissioner, GHMC were delivered . The sessions turned out lively by the presence of KTR and the other council of ministers.
