Tirumala, 25 November 2018: Taking part in the community dining in the presence of deities during the holy month of Karthika is a blessed event, said, Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju.
Speaking on the occasion of Karthika Vanabhojanotsavam in Paruveta Mandapam at Tirumala on Sunday he said, this was an age-old festival, which was in practice some 500 years ago. This festival was revived by TTD in 2010.
Community dining has a great significance in this auspicious month. All the devotees have thoroughly enjoyed the fete, he maintained.
Earlier the processional deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy flanked by Sridevi and Bhudevi were performed Snapana Tirumanjanam followed by Karthika Vana Bhojanam.
Hundreds of devotees had community dining underneath the amla trees in the garden which is considered to be sacred during the holy karthika month.
Tirumala Sri Pedda Jiyangar Swamy, Sri Chinna Jiyangar Swamy, CVSO Sri Gopinath Jetti and other officers were also present.
