Tiruchukanur Gears up to Host the Big Fete

Tiruchanoor, 30th Nov 2018 : Considered as one of the oldest temples under the fold of TTD, the famous temple of Sri Padmavathi Devi at Tiruchanoor is believed to be 1100 years old as per the available inscriptions.

DIFFERENT NAMES AT DIFFERENT TIMES

Called by different names at different times in its hundreds of years of glorious history, Tiruchanoor is previously known as Tiruchukanur. The legend says that as Sage Suka performed penance here in this place, it has become popular by name Tirusukanuru, while some referred to it as Tirusukapuram, said Pancharatra Agama Advisor Sri Tirumala Kanduri Srinivasacharyulu.

VEERA LAKSHMI STAYS BACK IN TIRUCHANOOR WHILE VYUHA LAKSHMI WITH LORD

The interesting fact which was stated by famous saint poetess Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba in her literary work "Venkatachala Mahatyam" is that in the Padma Sarovara, the temple tank, not one but both Vyuha Lakshmi and Veera Lakshmi emerged out of the one-thousand petal golden lotus. When Vyuha Lakshmi left for Tirumala and stayed back on the chest of Sri Venkateswara Swamy upon His request, Veera Lakshmi softly denied His wish to come along with Lord to Tirumala.

She told Sri Venkateswara Swamy, that She would like remain in Tiruchanoor as a loving Mother of Her devotees and will send them to Tirumala to have benign blessings of Lord Venkateswara to which the Lord agreed. As the Goddess remained all alone in all Her splendour and riches, she is revered as Sarva Swatantra Veera Lakshmi.
