Tirupati, 8 Aug. 19: TTDs Tirupati Joint Executive Officer Sri P Basanth Kumar says the poetess Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba had popularised the Srivari glory in simple language for common man to understand and follow.
Participating in the 202nd vardhanti of the poetess held at Annamacharya Kala Mandir on Thursday the JEO said the ardent devote of Sri Venkateswara, she was a yogini, social reformer and poetess.
He said TTD organised the vardhanti utsavam at Tirumala, Tirupati and Tarigonda with two day long festivities, Bhakti sangeet, harikatha, and literary discourses by eminent Acharya’s.
Earlier he garlanded portrait of the poetess and felicitated the Acharya’s with shawls and prasadams.
Prominent among those who participated in the literary convention on Tallapaka Annamacharya and Tarigonda Vengamamba were Acharya KG Krishnamurthy. Acharya Sri G Anjaneya Shastri Of Varanasi spoke on Tarigonda Vengamamba and Vasishta Ramayana significance. Dr A. Vibhishana Sharma Of Tirupati, Dr Sangeetam Keshavuku Of Chandra girl also spoke.
A colourful cultural program followed the convention where artists rendered gatra ganam, sankeertans etc.
