Free Eye Care to Poor - TTD Chairman













Tirupati, 5 Jun. 20: TTD Chairman Sri YV Subba Reddy on Friday directed officials to provide quality free eye care to poor of Nellore, Prakasam and other Rayalaseema districts.

The Chairman visited Aravind Eye Hospital near Alipiri on Friday evening along with Tirupati JEO Sri P Basant Kumar.

Speaking to media later the TTD Chairman said TTD would construct Aravind Eye Hospital on 7-acre land with latest Kilofer technology to conduct free eye operations to poor across the state.

He instructed the officials to provide wide publicity on the surgical and other facilities available at this hospital from last April onwards to people of Rayalaseema.

Earlier, the patients had to visit either Hyderabad or Madurai. Now people can avail such quality and speciality care under the AP state government's unique scheme Kanti Velugu.

Earlier Dr A Ashok Vardhan, CMO of the Aravind Eye Hospital made a Powerpoint presentation on the special infrastructure and services available at the institute.

The TTD Chairman also inspected the 112-acre land allocated by TTD for AP Science City near Alipiri.

He also visited the Central hospital and Sri Shankar Netralaya hospital and its operation theatres within the TTD administration building complex and enquired about services etc.

TTD CMO Dr Nageswara Rao and BIRRD director Dr Madanmohan Reddy and superintendent Dr Kusuma Kumari participated.
