India is helping the world in vaccination: Governor

Hyderabad, March 10: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Wednesday said that we must be proud that India was helping the world get immunised against the Covid-19.

“Our indigenously developed vaccines are being utilised in more than 55 countries across globe. Even Pakistan is also getting our Made in India vaccine,” she added.

She stated that Hyderabad is steadily emerging as the pharma and vaccine capital of the world and appreciated the role of Hyderabad in vaccine development, production, and supply.

The Governor was virtually addressing the 1st Annual Day celebrations of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bibingar, near here, on Wednesday.

“During my medical college days, 30 years ago, our country used to wait for the vaccines to be imported from other countries. Now we have emerged as the leading producer and supplier of vaccines to the world,” she added.

Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan exhorted the doctors to intensify their research to come up with medical innovations and help prevent and treat different diseases.

The Governor, a reputed medical professional herself, exhorted the young doctors to be more patient towards their patients and advised them to hear the complaints of patients with care and concern.

She appreciated the plans of the AIIMS, Bibingar, to construct the 750-bedded hospital and different blocks like medical college, academic block, hostels etc.,
