Sri Purandara Dasa, the doyen of Carnatic music and Padakavita, is truly the embodiment of SageSRI PURANDARA DASA IS THE EMBODIMENT OF SAGE NARADA
The Sri Purandara Dasa Aradhana Mahotsavams began grandly on Saturday at Tirumala under the aegis of the TTD Dasa Sahitya Project.
As part of the celebrations, various programmes were conducted at the Asthana Mandapam in Tirumala, including Suprabhatam, meditation, mass bhajans, Nagara Sankeerthana, a Purandara Sahitya Goshti, Mangalaasasanams by various Peetadhipathis, and Sankeerthana Mala programmes. Sri Sujayanidhi Tirtha Swamiji and Sri Vidya Vijaya Tirtha Swamiji offered their Mangalaasasanams on the occasion.
Addressing the devotees, Sri Sujayanidhi Tirtha Swamiji said that human life is encircled by numerous problems, and to overcome them, Nama Sankeerthana holds special importance among the ninefold paths of devotion. He stated that the scriptures proclaim the necessity of the grace of the Lord’s foremost devotees to attain God, and Sri Purandara Dasa stands as a supreme devotee in this tradition. Today, thousands of devotees chant the innumerable compositions of Purandara Dasa and become recipients of the Lord’s grace, highlighting the unique significance of Nama Sankeerthana in the Kali Yuga.
Later, the Special Officer of the TTD Dasa Sahitya Project, Sri Anandatheerthacharyulu, presented Srivari prasadam to the Swamijis and honoured them with shawls.
Thousands of devotees from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu participated in the programme.
On the second day, January 18, at 6 a.m., floral tributes will be offered to the statue of Sri Purandara Dasa at Alipiri. In the evening at 6 p.m., a procession of Srivari Utsava Murthis will be held from the Srivari Temple to Narayanagiri Gardens, followed by Unjal Seva and Dasa Sankeerthana programmes.
On the final day, January 19, Suprabhatam, meditation, mass bhajans, Nagara Sankeerthana, discourses, and a Sangeetha Vibhavari programme will be conducted in the morning.
