Annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Pattabhirama Swamy Varu at Valmikipuram from 23rd March to 02nd April

The annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Pattabhirama Swamy at Valmikipuram, under the management of TTD, will be conducted with devotion from March 23 to April 02.

Commencement with Ankurarpanam

On March 23, the Brahmotsavams began grandly with the Ankurarpanam ritual. At 5 a.m., the Lord was awakened with Suprabhata Seva, followed by abhishekam, decoration, tomala seva, koluvu, and archana. From 8 a.m. onwards, devotees had darshan through Sarva Darshan. In the evening, Vedic rituals such as Swasti Punayahavachanam, Mritsangrahanam, Rakshabandhanam, Senadhipati Utsavam, Kalasha Sthapana, and Ankurarpanam were performed.

Temple Significance:

Valmikipuram is the sacred place where Sage Valmiki had the divine vision of Lord Rama. According to legend, the idol of Sri Pattabhirama Swamy, along with Sita, Lakshmana, Bharata, Shatrughna, and Hanuman, was consecrated by the great devotee Jambavan. The temple is renowned as the place where Lord Rama manifested from the anthill (Valmika), hence the name Valmikipuram.

The temple’s vimana is known as Sudarshana Vimana, built in Chola architectural style, while the mandapas and gopurams reflect Vijayanagara craftsmanship. Sri Sita Devi is consecrated on the southern side of the temple. Every year in the month of Chaitra, on the day of her birth star Ashlesha, the grand Sita Rama Kalyanotsavam is celebrated.

The first Telugu vaggeyakara, Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya, is said to have composed more than 20 keertanas on Sri Pattabhirama Swamy.

TTD Development:

On 23-02-1997, the temple was taken over by TTD from the Endowments Department. After renovations, the Ashtabandhana Maha Samprokshanam was conducted on 12-08-2005. Special Grade Deputy EO Smt. Varalakshmi, Superintendent Sri Muni Balakumar, Temple Inspector Sri Krishnamurthy, and temple priests participated in the event.

On March 29, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Sita Rama Kalyanotsavam will be held. Couples can participate by paying 300. They will receive one upper garment, blouse piece, and laddu prasadam as blessings.
