Profound Meaning in Words...Remarkable Diversity in Annamayya- Dr Sirisha

Dr. Sirisha, Professor in the Department of Sanskrit at SV University, stated that the Sankirtanas of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya exhibit an extraordinary range of emotions and themes. She noted that along with devotion and romantic expression, Annamayya beautifully conveyed moral values through his compositions.

The 523rd death anniversary celebrations of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya, being held at the Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati, reached the second day on Tuesday.

Speaking on the topic “Annamayya Sankirtanas – A Blend of Devotion, Romance, and Moral Values”, Dr. Sirisha said that Annamayya’s compositions reflect not only devotion but also aesthetic beauty and human values. She highlighted that his lyrics carry deep spirituality along with the essence of life. She added that Annamayya’s compositions play a vital role in instilling devotion and ethical values among the youth. She also appreciated the efforts of TTD in taking these compositions to the public.

Presiding over the seminar, retired professor Acharya Govindaraju from SV Oriental Research Institute stated that the contributions of Tallapaka Annamayya and his descendants are invaluable. He described their literary works as a great treasure combining devotion, spirituality, and culture, and remarked that this literature can be regarded as the “Andhra Veda.” He emphasized the importance of passing on this heritage to future generations.

Associate Professor Dr. Vijay Kumar from Telugu University, Hyderabad, said that Annamayya’s compositions are rich in devotion, romance, and spirituality. He noted that Annamayya’s literature has a unique style imbued with spiritual wisdom, adding that just as Lord Srinivasa is a à¦®à¦¹ান deity, Annamayya was an equally à¤®à¤¹ान devotee.
