Sri SIta Rama Kalayana Mahotsavams at Vontimitta to Begin with Haridra Ghatana on 25th March

The Sri Sita Rama Kalyana Mahotsavams at Ontimitta will commence in a grand manner on March 25 with the traditional ritual of “Haridra Ghatana” (turmeric grinding ceremony).

As part of this, special prayers will be offered on Wednesday morning inside the sanctum sanctorum to turmeric rhizomes, grinding stones (rolu and rokali), at the holy feet of the Lord. అనంతరం, a large number of women devotees will participate in the ritual and traditionally grind the turmeric using the mortar and pestle.

With this ceremony, the preparations for the Sri Sita Rama Kalyana Mahotsavams formally begin.

The turmeric obtained from this ritual will be used to prepare Talambralu (sacred turmeric rice) for the celestial wedding ceremony of Sri Sita and Lord Rama.
