The celestial wedding ceremony of Sri Sita Rama provided a divine feast to the eyes of tens of thousands of devotees who converged from different parts of the state and even neighboring states.
As part of the annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple at Vontimitta in Kadapa district, the celestial Kalyanam of Sri Rama and Sita was performed with religious grandeur on Wednesday evening.
The rituals began at 6 PM with the Kanta korika ceremony, where priests formally expressed Sita’s divine wish as per scriptures.
This was followed by the Edurkolu Utsavam at 6.30 PM.
The Kalyanam commenced at 7 PM with Bhagavat Vignapana, Sabha Anujna, and Sankalpam for universal welfare.
Punyahavachanam was performed to sanctify all materials used in the ritual.
Subsequently, rituals such as Raksha Bandhanam, Yajnopaveeta Dharana, Vara Prekshanam and Madhuparka Archana were conducted.
After the Mahasankalpam, the Kanyadanam ritual was performed, followed by the recitation of the Pravaras of Sri Sita Rama. The divine lineage of Sri Rama was glorified.
Following the Agni Pratishtha, the sacred ritual of placing Jeelakarra-Bellam on the heads of the divine couple was performed.
Later, Mangalashtakam and Churnika were recited, followed by Mangalyasutra Puja, Mangalyadharana and Akshataropanam.
The ceremony concluded with Naivedyam, Veda Swasti, and Mahadasirvachanam.
The entire State Festival of Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam was telecast live on SVBC channel for the sake of global devotees.
Distribution of Prasadam to Devotees
Devotees who gathered in the 121 spacious galleries set up around the Kalyana Vedika were distributed Tirumala Srivari Laddu prasadam and pearl Talambralu by Srivari Sevaks.
Unprecedented devotee turn out was witnessed on Wednesday evening braving the scorching temperatures. The celestial wedding under the bright natural light of the full moon stood as a special attraction.
