Annual Jyestabhishekam from 26th June to 28th June

Srivari Salakatla Jyeshtabhishekam will be held at the Srivari Temple in Tirumala from June 26 to 28.

Every year, in the Jyeshtamasa, Jyeshtabhishekam is performed for three days, the last day coinciding with Jyeshta Nakshatra.

This ritual is being performed at the Kalyana Mandapam in Sampangi Prakaram and is also known as ‘’Abhidhyeyaka Abhishekam’’.

The significance of this ritual involves the protection of the age old ceremonial idols of the deities from wear and tear due to the abhishekams performed over generations.

On the first day, the golden armour of Sri Malayappa Swamy is removed, and homas, abhishekams and Panchamrutha Snapana Tirumanjanam is performed.

After that, the processional deity is adorned with a diamond armour. After similar holy bath on the second day, the deity is decked with a pearl armour. On the third day, the deity is adorned with the gold armour again.

This gold armour is taken off only in the next year during the time of Jyeshtabhishekam. Until the processional deity of Sri Malayappa Swamy participates in various festivals in the same gold armour throughout the year to bless His devotees.

In view of the Srivari Jyeshtabhishekam, TTD has cancelled the Arjita Sevas including Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, and Arjita Brahmotsavam on June 28.
