The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has directed that greenery should be increased around the Ontimitta temple area.
Following these directions, the TTD Forest Department has prepared plans to grow trees that are suitable for the local climate and can survive for a long time.
On Thursday, TTD JEO Sri V. Veerabrahmam inspected the Ramatheertham hill and gave several suggestions to the Forest and Engineering Department officials.
The Ramatheertham and Lakshmanatheertham hills together cover an area of about 10 hectares. Since the area has many large rocks, TTD has started planting tree varieties that can grow even between rocks.
As part of a pilot effort, trees such as Raavi, Marri, Tellamaddi, and Jeelugu have been planted. TTD is planning to plant around 3,000 trees in phases.
Special care is being taken in the initial stage to ensure that these trees grow well even in rocky areas.
TTD is implementing this planned plantation program to make the Ontimitta surroundings greener.
TTD CE Sri T.V. Satyanarayana, Forest Department Officer Vijay Kumar, and other officials and staff participated in this program.
