Chatra Sthapanotsavam on 9th August

The annual festival of Chatrasthapanotsavam at Narayanagiri in Sri Padalu will be performed in Tirumala on August 9.

According to the temple legend, Sri Venkateswara Swamy had first landed on this Narayanagiri mountain before entering into Srivari temple, which is considered to be the highest peak point of the Seven Hills of Tirumala.

To mark this ceremonial occasion, Chatrasthapanotsavam is being performed every year by TTD where in a new traditional Umbrella will be erected performing special pujas.

There is also an interesting belief associated with this festival. As the velocity of the wind waves is heavy during this season at this point to appease the God of Wind a new umbrella is being erected on the auspicious day of Sravana Suddha Dwadasi every year in Tirumala.
