Pavitrotsavam at Sri Kodandarama Swamy Vari Temple, Vontimitta from 24th to 26th August

The annual Pavitrotsavams will be observed at Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, Ontimitta, from August 24 to 26 with religious fervour. The utsavam will commence with Ankurarpanam on August 23 at 6 p.m.

According to Vedic tradition, entry into the temple is restricted during periods of Jatashoucham and Mrutashoucham. However, due to the ignorance of pilgrims or temple staff, minor lapses may occur. To ward off such inadvertent lapses and to ensure the sanctity of the temple, Pavitrotsavams are performed annually for three days as a customary practice.

As part of the rituals:

On August 24, Chatushtanarchana, Pavitra Pratishtha, followed by Pavitra Homam, Nivedana and. Sathumora  in the evening will be conducted.

On August 25, Pavitra Samarpana in the morning and Vedic rituals at Yagashala in the evening will take place.

On August 26, the utsavam will conclude with Maha Poornahuti, Pavitra Visarjana, Kumbha Prokshanam in the morning and in the evening, the grand procession of Sri Kodandarama Swamy along with Sita Devi and Lakshmana Swamy will be held.
