Many local temples under the umbrella of TTD including Tiruchanoor, Govindaraja Swamy, Sri Kodandarama Swamy, Srinivasa Mangapuram, Appalayagunta and many more were closed from the afternoon session from 2pm onwards on Sunday following the Lunar Eclipse.
The eclipse will last from 9:50pm of September 07 to 1:31am of September 08. As a traditional practice, the temples remain closed almost six hours before.
After performing the Suddhi pujas, the temples reopens Darshan for the devotees on Monday.
In Tiruchanoor the temple closed by 2:15pm while Sri Govindaraja Swamy at 3:30pm. In Srinivasa Mangapuram the temple door was closed by 3:30pm and at Kapilatheertham the by 3pm on Sunday in a ceremonious manner.
Similarly in several outside temples of TTD the temple doors were closed by 2pm on Sunday. After performing purificatory rituals devotees will be allowed for darshan in all these temples on Monday.
