The 138th Birth Anniversary of Sriman Veturi Prabhakara Sastri was observed with grandeur at Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati, on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. D. Prabhakara Krishnamurthy, Special Officer, TTD Puranetihasa Project, described Veturi Prabhakara Sastri as a scholar of exceptional intellect who followed the yogic path and made invaluable contributions to Telugu literature.
A literary seminar was held on the occasion. Retired Professor of the University of Hyderabad, Prof. Remalla Venkataramakrishna Sastri, highlighted the multifaceted works of Sri Sastri, while Dr. T. Rajashekhar of Sri Venkateswara University spoke on his role in bringing to light the literature of the Tallapaka poets, including Annamacharya compositions.
Earlier, floral tributes were offered to the life size bronze statue of Sriman Veturi Prabhakara Sastri.
Floral tributes were also paid to his statue located at the TTD Oriental College premises by officials and faculty members. Annamacharya Project Director Dr Medasani Mohan was also present.
