A breath of fresh air in a romantic subject

A breath of fresh air in a romantic subject - Pelli Choopulu Movie review (3.5/5)
Long ago, i.e., in 1983, a film has come up with Vijayashanti and Chandramohan in the lead roles with the title 'Pelli Choopulu'. After three decades another film has come up with the same title. However, only the title is repeated but the entire story had a drastic change. While the earlier film deals with the post-marital blues, this is a beautiful romantic love story.
Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam, who had directed the film 'Pelli Choopulu', had penned a beautiful romantic love story. As the film is about a romantic love subject, the director chose upcoming artistes for the lead characters and extracted the real talent in them like a crusher extracts the sweet juice from sugarcane. Surprisingly the film had created a positive buzz right from the day the makers have launched the trailer of the movie and the fantastic feedback would definitely work out in favour of the movie to prove it a hit movie.
Prashant (Deverakonda Vijay) is one such person, who takes everything that comes across in his life very casually. He will never follow a trend but always wants to create a trend unto himself. He thought of pursuing his career as a chef. As Prashant takes everything very casually, his father (Kedar Shankar) thought of getting him married to a girl, who has set a target in a specified career and finds Chitra (Rithu Varma) as a correct choice. Unfortunately, Chitra refuses to marry Prashant as she wants to launch a food truck business on her own and reveals that she had already targeted her career in her life. As Prashant has an attitude to take anything casually, he just forgets everything and decides to move on in his life and decides to leave everything to destiny. At this juncture, Prashant comes across another girl from another rich family. Here also Prashant gets a shock, as the girl's father insists on Prashant to start his own business and prove himself before seeking the hand of his daughter. Now, this has become a prestige issue for Prashant and takes it as a challenge and meets Chitra and asks for her help and tells her that he would like to join as a partner in her food truck business. The rest of the story deals with how their journey takes different twists and finally ends up as a love story and how the couple gets united in the climax.
Performance
Vijay Devarakonda, who had earlier, proved himself as a good actor in films like 'Nuvvilaa' and 'Yevade Subrahmanyam', once again gave a superb performance and made everyone to think he had a bright future in Tollywood. The director etched his character as a very confusing but at the same time extracted the talent him by showcasing the talent with scenes with lot of twists. He maintained a fantastic chemistry with the heroine Ritu Varma. The heroine too had faced the camera for three or four films including 'Baadshah, Prema Ishq Kadal, Naa Rakumarudu and Yevade Subrahmanyam'. She took everyone by surprise with her character as Chitra in this movie. The director penned a fantastic role for her as a girl with strong mindset with independent views. Every time she appears on the screen, she gave an electrifying performance and the camera work by Nagesh Banell made her appear in a gorgeous manner. Even the editing by Girijala Raviteja too is simply superb. All the supporting actors also did a wonderful job and make the film lively. Priyadarshi, who played the role of Vijay's buddy evokes laughter and his performance is hilarious. He delivered all the one liners in such a way and made the theatre burst into laughter.
Technical
Director Tharun Bhascker pushed a fresh breath of air in the story and all the characters in the film appear like the people around us in the real life. The audiences in the theatre will get a feel that they have come across all the scenes in the film once in their lifetime. Not just the lead characters but the entire cast appear very important in one scene or the other and the director etched each and every character with utmost precision. The dialogues penned for the conversation between the lead characters are very interesting and the viewers would love the scenes.
The director chose to fill the entire first half in a brilliant manner with some breezy moments. The conversation between the lead characters, the confrontational scenes between them appear to be very fresh and some scenes are never before on the Telugu screen. However, the director ignored that he is narrating the film in a manner which is predictable by an average audience. The movement of the movie appears very slow in the first half, where the audiences almost getting bored. But the director immediately moves the film in a hilarious manner and makes it interesting. Some scenes appear to have seen in one film or the other earlier and the director should have taken more precaution to prevent such repetitive scenes.
As was mentioned earlier, the cinematography by Nagesh Banell and editing by Raviteja Girijala are of top notch. The director Tharun gave a laser-sharp focus on all the characters and the tight and gripping screenplay make the audiences sit tight in the theatre looking at different twists in the subject. Finally, the clarity in the script worked out well in favour of the movie.
Raj Kandukuri and Yash Rangineni need to be complimented for choosing a good subject and for promoting a talented director like Tharun Bhascker. Music by Vivek Sagar is praiseworthy. Really the film is a good audio-visual treat.
Remarks
It is a feel-good film that can be watched by the entire family by sitting together.

Oopiri extraordinary film

Sir.

After watching 100s of Telugu films, I almost forgot to respond to any of the comedy scenes and never had a hearty laugh. Max, I used to get a smile despite how big joke someone cracks.

However, I was able to break the jinx. Yesterday, I had been to 'Oopiri' movie directed by Vamshy Paidipalli with King Nag and Karthi in the lead roles in theater. For the first time after many long years. I could laugh till I get tears in my eyes.

I thank Vamshy Paidipalli for the hilarious script and dialogues and especially for selecting Karthi for that role... No other hero would have done justice to that role..

A fantabulous (fantastic and fabulous) movie. If I get an opportunity and find time, I will definitely watch the film once again.

Thought of sharing it with  you

Thanks / regards
