The annual Sri Sundararaja Swamy Avatarotsavams will be celebrated from July 5 to 7 at the Sri Sundararaja Swamy Temple, attached to the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, Tiruchanoor.
Special rituals including Suprabhatham, Sahasranamarchana and Nityarchana will be performed every morning. Abhishekam to the processional deities of Sri Sundararaja Swamy along with Sridevi and Bhudevi will be held daily from 3 pm to 4 pm, followed by Unjal Seva from 5.45 pm to 6.15 pm.
The deity will bless devotees in Vahana Sevas as follows:
July 5: Pedda Sesha Vahanam (7 pm–8.30 pm)
July 6: Hanumantha Vahanam (7 pm–8.30 pm)
July 7: Garuda Vahanam (from 7 pm)
All processions will take place along the four Mada Streets of the temple.
In view of these festivities, the Unjal Seva at Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple has been cancelled from July 5 to 7.
According to temple tradition, the Avatarotsavams commemorate the historic arrival of the Sri Sundararaja Swamy Utsava idols from Madurai to Tiruchanoor for their protection several centuries ago.
The festival is observed every year in remembrance of this sacred event.
