SADU SUBRAHMANYA SASTRY’S CONTRIBUTION TO EPIGRAPHICAL RESEARCH REMEMBERED – EPIGRAPHIST SORAKAYALA KRISHNA REDDY

Eminent epigraphist Sri Sorakayala Krishna Reddy said that Sadu Subrahmanya Sastry made a significant contribution to epigraphical research and helped bring the glory of Lord Venkateswara to the world.

Speaking at the 45th death anniversary programme of Sadu Subrahmanya Sastry at Annamacharya Kalamandiram on Thursday, Sri Krishna Reddy said Sastry collected and translated 1,167 copper-plate inscriptions while serving as a Peshkar at the Srivari Temple. He also played a key role in bringing several Annamayya compositions to light.

Retired SV University Telugu Professor Sri Srinivasulu Reddy highlighted Sastry’s research skills and valuable contribution to Telugu literary research.

TTD officials paid floral tributes at Sastry’s statue opposite SVETA Bhavan. Floral tributes were also paid to the statue of Sri Gouripeddi Ramasubba Sarma at SV Oriental College on the occasion of his 104th birth anniversary.

Sastry’s daughter Smt. Girija Devi, grandson High Court Registrar Sri Murthy, SVETA In-charge Director Dr. Vema Venkata Ratnam, Annamacharya Project Director Dr. Latha, eminent literary personality Sri Gouripeddi Venkata Sankara Bhagavan and others participated.
