TTD is taking special measures to enhance greenery in Tirumala and protect the biodiversity and wildlife of the Seshachalam forest region, said TTD Forest Range Officer Sri Doraswamy.
Addressing media at the Media Centre in Tirumala on Thursday along with DRO Sri Madhusudhan he said red sanders, sandalwood and medicinal plants were being nurtured in the Tirumala forest area.
Nakshatra Vanams are being developed at Paruveta Mandapam, while greening works are under way along the ghat roads of Alipiri and Srivari Mettu footpath routes.
Flowering and fragrant plants are being raised at Vaikuntam Queue Complex-1, GNC Tollgate, Alipiri and other areas to provide a pleasant ambience for devotees.
Wildlife movement, particularly leopard activity, is being monitored round the clock by TTD forest staff.
CCTV, trap and solar cameras, along with drones, are being used for surveillance.
A remotely monitored system will soon be introduced to strengthen vigilance.
Plastic-Free Forests:
As a part protection of biodiversity and wildlife, plastic has been banned in the Seshachalam forest area.
Devotees have been advised not to carry plastic bottles or covers into forest zones or else strict action will be taken against violators.
Sri Doraswami also appealed to devotees not to feed monkeys and other wild animals along the ghat roads, as it alters their natural feeding habits and disturbs the ecological balance.
He also urged them not to discard plastic waste in forest areas and to cooperate with TTD in preserving the sanctity and greenery of Tirumala.
