Commemorating the birth star of the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore, TTD will observe the annual Pallavotsavam festival at Tirumala on July 22.
After the Sahasra Deepa Alankara Seva, Sri Devi and Bhu Devi together with Sri Malayappa Swamy will be taken on a ceremonial procession to the Karnataka Choultries. The
representatives of the Government of Karnataka and the Mysore royal family offer special Harathi on the occasion.
This festival has been observed for the past 300 years in memory of the Maharaja of Mysore.
The Mysore Maharaja instituted the daily tradition of offering Navaneetha Harathi and donating five kilograms of ghee each day to the Brahma Deepa and the Maharaja Deepa before the Suprabhatam. This practice continues to the present day.
