Veturi Prabhakara Sastry Attained Spiritual Elevation Through Yoga Practice- Dr Rajashekar

Sri Veturi Prabhakara Sastry was a great scholar who made outstanding contributions to Telugu literature and research and also attained spiritual elevation through yoga practice, said Dr. Rajasekhar of the Oriental Research Institute, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.

A literary seminar was held at Annamacharya Kala Mandiram, Tirupati, on Saturday to mark the 76th death anniversary of Sri Veturi Prabhakara Sastry. Dr. Rajasekhar spoke on “The Yoga Path of Sri Veturi Prabhakara Sastry.”

He said Sastry viewed yoga not merely as a physical exercise but as a spiritual path that brings peace to the mind and elevates one’s thoughts and way of life. Self-purification, a simple and sattvic lifestyle, spiritual thinking and service to humanity were central to his yoga practice.

Dr. Rajasekhar said yoga promotes peace, concentration and self-confidence and helps one lead a meaningful life dedicated to society. Sastry’s spiritual life and yoga practice continue to inspire the present generation.

Outstanding Contribution to Ancient Telugu Literature

Dr. Sangeetham Kesavulu of Chandragiri spoke on “Sri Veturi Prabhakara Sastry’s Contribution to Ancient Telugu Literature.”

He said Sastry’s contribution to Telugu literary history was remarkable. He made significant efforts to discover, study and preserve ancient texts, palm-leaf manuscripts and rare literary works for future generations.

He said Sastry’s research and editorial work brought many rare works to light and helped preserve the rich literary and cultural heritage of Telugu.

Floral Tribute to Veturi Prabhakara Sastry

Earlier on Saturday morning, TTD Hindu Dharma Prachara Secretary Dr. Medasani Mohan and others paid floral tributes to the statue of Sri Veturi Prabhakara Sastry opposite Shweta Bhavan in Tirupati.

TTD Annamacharya Project Director Smt. Latha, officials, literary personalities and members of the public participated in the programme.

 సాహిత్య, పరిశోధనా రంగాల్లో అపూర్వ సేవలందించడంతోపాటు యోగసాధన ద్వారా ఆధ్యాత్మిక ఉన్నతిని సాధించిన మహనీయులు శ్రీ వేటూరి ప్రభాకరశాస్త్రి అని తిరుపతి శ్రీ వేంకటేశ్వర విశ్వవిద్యాలయం ప్రాచ్య పరిశోధనా సంస్థకు చెందిన డాక్టర్‌ రాజశేఖర్‌ అన్నారు.

శ్రీ వేటూరి ప్రభాకరశాస్త్రి 76వ వర్ధంతిని పురస్కరించుకుని శనివారం తిరుపతిలోని అన్నమాచార్య కళామందిరంలో సాహితీ సదస్సు నిర్వహించారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా “శ్రీ వేటూరి ప్రభాకరశాస్త్రిగారి యోగమార్గం” అనే అంశంపై డాక్టర్‌ రాజశేఖర్‌ ప్రసంగించారు.

యోగాన్ని కేవలం శారీరక సాధనగా కాకుండా మనస్సుకు ప్రశాంతతను, ఆలోచనలకు ఉన్నతిని, జీవితానికి ఆధ్యాత్మిక దిశను చూపే సాధనగా ప్రభాకరశాస్త్రిగారు భావించారని తెలిపారు. ఆయన యోగమార్గంలో ఆత్మశుద్ధి, సాత్విక జీవనం, ఆధ్యాత్మిక చింతనతోపాటు మానవ సేవకు విశిష్ట స్థానం ఉండేదన్నారు.

యోగసాధన ద్వారా ప్రశాంతత, ఏకాగ్రత, ఆత్మవిశ్వాసం పెంపొందుతాయని, సమాజానికి ఉపయోగపడే ఉత్తమ జీవన విధానాన్ని అలవరచుకోవచ్చని పేర్కొన్నారు. ప్రభాకరశాస్త్రిగారి యోగసాధన, ఆధ్యాత్మిక జీవన విధానం నేటి తరానికి కూడా జ్ఞానదీపంలా మార్గదర్శకంగా నిలుస్తుందని అన్నారు.

ప్రాచీన తెలుగు సాహిత్య పరిరక్షణలో విశిష్ట కృషి

చంద్రగిరికి చెందిన డాక్టర్‌ సంగీతం కేశవులు “ప్రాచీన తెలుగు సాహిత్యానికి శ్రీ వేటూరి ప్రభాకరశాస్త్రిగారు చేసిన కృషి” అనే అంశంపై ప్రసంగించారు.

తెలుగు సాహిత్య చరిత్రలో వేటూరి ప్రభాకరశాస్త్రిగారి సేవలు చిరస్మరణీయమని తెలిపారు. ప్రాచీన గ్రంథాలు, తాళపత్ర రచనలు, అరుదైన సాహిత్య సంపదను వెలికితీసి, పరిశోధించి, భావితరాలకు అందించడంలో ఆయన చేసిన కృషి అపూర్వమన్నారు.

ప్రాచీన తెలుగు సాహిత్యంలోని చారిత్రక, సాంస్కృతిక, సాహిత్య వైభవాన్ని వెలుగులోకి తీసుకురావడంలో శాస్త్రిగారి పరిశోధనలు ఎంతో కీలకమని చెప్పారు. ఆయన పరిశోధన, సంపాదకత్వం ద్వారా అనేక అరుదైన రచనలు వెలుగులోకి వచ్చాయని తెలిపారు. తెలుగు సాహిత్య వారసత్వాన్ని పరిరక్షించి భావితరాలకు అందించేందుకు ఆయన జీవితం, సేవలు స్ఫూర్తిదాయకమన్నారు.

వేటూరి విగ్రహానికి ఘన నివాళి

ఈ సందర్భంగా శనివారం ఉదయం తిరుపతిలోని శ్వేత భవనం ఎదురుగా ఉన్న శ్రీ వేటూరి ప్రభాకరశాస్త్రి విగ్రహానికి టీటీడీ హిందూ ధర్మ ప్రచార కార్యదర్శి డా. మేడసాని మోహన్‌, తదితరులు పూలమాలలు వేసి ఘనంగా నివాళులర్పించారు.

ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో టీటీడీ అన్నమాచార్య ప్రాజెక్టు సంచాలకులు శ్రీమతి లత, ఇతర అధికారులు, సాహితీవేత్తలు, పురప్రజలు పాల్గొన్నారు.
