Addl EO Inspects State-of-the-Art Food and Water Analysis Lab in Tirumala

The TTD Additional Executive Officer Sri Ch Venkaiah Chowdary inspected the newly established Food and Water Analysis Laboratory in Tirumala and reviewed its first analysis report, confirming the facility is fully operational now.

He said TTD gives highest priority to devotees’ health and safety and noted the laboratory, inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu on 21 March 2026, the lab completed all Standard Operating Procedures within about two and a half months and produced its inaugural comprehensive analysis report.

Built to FSSAI standards, the laboratory houses over 50 advanced instruments and is staffed by around 30 scientists, technical experts and technicians. The facility collects and tests nearly 40 food samples daily from kitchens, Annaprasadam centres, food counters, hotels, Srivari Laddu Prasadam units and Marketing Department raw stocks, and about 20 water samples from Jalaprasadam centres and supply lines.

Previously, some water samples were sent to outside labs for testing; the new microbiology capabilities in Tirumala now provide accurate, timely local results and strengthen monitoring of food and water quality for devotees.

The Deputy EO (Health) Sri Somanarayana, Deputy EO (Temple) Sri Lokanatham, Quality Manager Sri Lakshmi Narayana and laboratory staff were also present.
