SRI CHAKRATHALWAR SATTUMARAI AT SRI GOVINDARAJA SWAMY TEMPLE ON AUGUST 12

The Sri Chakrathalwar Sattumurai and Sri Prativadi Bhayankara Annan Sattumurai will be observed with devotion and grandeur at the Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple, Tirupati, on August 12.

From 8 am to 9.30 am, Sri Varadaraja Swamy, along with His consorts, and the utsava idols of Sri Prativadi Bhayankara Annan will be taken in a traditional procession around the four Mada streets from the Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple, accompanied by traditional music.

From 9.30 am to 10 am, the Srivari Appapadi Prasadam brought from Tirumala will be taken in a procession from the Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple to the Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy Temple, followed by the Sri Prativadi Bhayankara Annan Sattumurai.

In the evening, from 4 pm to 5.30 pm, Sri Govindaraja Swamy along with Sri Devi and Bhu Devi will be taken in a grand procession around the four Mada streets, followed by a procession of Sri Andal Ammavaru.

Significance of Chakrathalwar Sattumurai

As per temple tradition, Sri Sudarshana Chakrathalwar was consecrated at the first gopuram of the Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple on the day of Pushyami star. To mark the consecration day, Sri Chakrathalwar Sattumurai is observed every year.

Sri Prativadi Bhayankara Annan

Sri Prativadi Bhayankara Annan was born in Kanchipuram and was a renowned Sanskrit scholar and Sri Vaishnava Acharya. He composed the sacred Suprabhatam, Stotram, Prapatti and Mangalasasanam to awaken Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala. He also wrote commentaries on great works including Sri Bhashyam and Sri Bhagavatam.

The Sri Prativadi Bhayankara Annan

Sattumurai is observed every year in honour of his birth star.
