As part of the Sri Rama Navami Brahmotsavams at Vontimitta Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple, the grand Rathotsavam (chariot festival) was held on Thursday with great splendour.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m., Lord Kodandarama, along with Sita and Lakshmana, ascended the chariot and blessed devotees while parading through the village streets. Bhajan groups, with devotional songs and kolatam dances, heightened the spiritual atmosphere. Devotees, with deep devotion, pulled the chariot and offered camphor harati at every step.
The Rathotsavam holds profound spiritual significance. It symbolises the soul as the rider, the body as the chariot, intellect as the charioteer, mind as the reins, senses as the horses, and worldly objects as the streets. This festival serves as a guide to realize the distinction between the self and the non-self.
TTD Additional EO Sri C.H. Venkayya Chowdary, JEOs Sri V. Veerabrahmam and Dr. A. Sharath, Deputy EO Smt. Prashanthi, Temple Inspector Sri Naveen, engineering officials, and a large number of devotees participated in the event.
